What's New in the States!
The Los Angeles Galaxy�s new football stadium opens in 2003. The stadium, which will seat more than 20,000 people is part of a $12million sports complex on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson. There will also be an 8,000 seat stadium and tennis, track and field facilities, as well as a cycling academy for young athletes.

A new museum, The National Track and Field Hall of Fame, has opened in New York to honour the greatest US athletes. With three floors of exhibits and an interactive learning centre, the museum shares the 168th Street Armory site with one of the country�s most important indoor tracks in Washington Heights.

New York boasts two new minor league baseball teams in new stadia. The Staaten Island Yankees� 7,500-seater stadium on Staaten Island has views over Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty, while the New York Mets-affiliated Brooklyn Cyclones play in a state-of-the-art complex on Coney Island.

New England has a new 68,000-seater stadium opened in May in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The $325 million CMGi Field, home of the Super Bowl football champions the New England Patriots, replaced the original Foxboro Stadium.
