New Terminal Construction at Leeds Bradford Airport Begins

Leeds Bradford Airport has announced the commencement of works on the next major stage of its passenger terminal development, with an £11 million construction project to deliver impressive new facilities and a significantly improved passenger experience. This investment at Leeds Bradford highlights the strength of the Leeds City Region in supporting major infrastructure developments alongside securing and generating new jobs within the region. The terminal development will provide a 65% increase in airside space over two floors, creating a new departure lounge, a new range of upgraded food and beverage offers, a major walk through Tax and Duty Free store and additional retail units. The Yorkshire Premier Lounge, which has received passenger and industry acclaim for its stylish and contemporary ambience, will be enlarged and developed to provide both a business and leisure product. They will also be enlarging the security search zone, all of the boarding gate areas and building a covered walkway to aircraft from the terminal to deliver the very best in facilities and experience for our customers. Expanded UK Border facilities have already been delivered in 2011 from four to six channels. The airport's development supports the region's ambitions to deliver inward investment and boost inbound tourism by providing improved terminal facilities and the ability to attract even more airlines, route and services to Yorkshire. The terminal development will be completed for Summer 2012.

	Leeds Bradford Airport has added to its growing flight network with a new service to the Republic of Ireland. Flybe is to launch a new three times a week service to Knock starting at the end of March 2012. The new route will cement FlyBe's commitment to Leeds Bradford Airport with a summer 2012 schedule of 88 flights a week to 5 destinations. The developing route network will provide efficient and affordable travel options to keep business and leisure travellers moving during these continued economically challenging times.

Travel Warning: London Olympic Games 2012

As you will all be aware the Olympic Games will be hosted by Great Britain in July 2012 and we would strongly urge all of our business clients to consider carefully and strategically any accommodation requirements, meeting planning and general travel to London during the run up to the commencement of the games and throughout their duration.

We anticipate that the hotels will not only be very busy but also very expensive if rooms are available, and London will be experiencing very heavy volumes of traffic both in transport and people.
