As many of us have more time on our hands, it feels like the right time for a bit of reflection and personal development, so we’ve explored 10 books to help you change your mindset.
Growth is as important personally as it is professionally and it’s a topic we’re passionate about here at Traveleads; we know our customers are too, especially our (normally) regular travellers who want to maximise their precious time in transit.
Our team are always recommending the last amazing book they read, so we’re sharing them with you as well. We’d love to know, what’s your go-to book when you want to feel positive or you need advice on tackling a particular problem?
1. My Miracle Morning – Hal Elrod
This book promises to deliver ‘6 habits that will transform your life before 8am.’ Packed full of easy-to-digest chapters, Elrod offers up ‘Life S.A.V.E.R.S’ to help you make a change or achieve your goals (silence, affirmations, visualisation, exercise, reading and scribing).
2. The Slight Edge – Jeff Olson
Focusing on small daily actions and thoughts repeated consistently, this book helps you build up habits to make positive changes to your mindset and success. Change the way you process information and see your dreams come into fruition.
3. The Seasons of Life – Jim Rohn
Looking for a perspective change? Rohn uses parallels between life and the changing of seasons to show us how we can utilise each season to reap rewards for ourselves. Understand how your winter can blossom into spring with the parable of the sower and the reaper.
4. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff – Richard Carlson
Ever feel like you’re holding on to the ‘small stuff’ rather than making time for bigger changes? Dr Carlson explains strategies to put things into perspective and make small changes to improve your well-being. ‘Ask yourself – will this matter in a year?’
5. Camel in the Tent – Peter Wilcock
Storytelling meets personal growth in this book, which uses memorable animal parables to motivate and inspire the reader. Follow the story of Exley Manning as he imparts his knowledge on a young mentee on how to live a life of bliss.
6. High Performance Habits – Brendon Burchard
Uncover the habits of successful people as Burchard explores how the world’s highest-performing people respond to challenge, leave their comfort zones and shirk the advice ‘do what comes naturally’.
7. How to Win Friends and Influence People – Dale Carnegie
Get out of a mental rut with this book packed full of practical tips and techniques to help make your life more rewarding. Learn the secrets of persuading people to your way of thinking, boost enthusiasm in your colleagues and win new clients and customers.
8. The Chimp Paradox – Professor Steve Peters
Delve into this powerful mind management tool to recognise how your mind works and learn tips to manage yourself into becoming the person you want to be. Based on scientific research, the book is also packed with exercises to help you improve daily on emotional skills and practical habits.
9. The Barcelona Way – Damian Hughes
Sports psychologist, Hughes, explores the principles which have defined FC Barcelona’s success and how other industries can utilise this. Understand how the big picture, arc of change, repetition, cultural architects and authentic leadership can change the culture of any team.
10. Thinking, Fast and Slow – Daniel Kahneman
If you want to make better decisions in business, home or simply everyday life, take a look at Kahneman’s advice on slower, smarter thinking. He reveals how prejudice and error play a part in us thinking fast, but not rationally.
