Delta Airlines commences its new service from Edinburgh to Boston today – its second direct service between the Scottish capital and the United States.

The new service will operate daily this upcoming summer and compliments the existing daily flights between Edinburgh and New York JFK which will become a year-round service this winter.

Flights to Boston Logan International depart Edinburgh at 10.40 and arrive at 12.49 local time. And flights from Boston depart at 21.53 and arrive in Edinburgh at 09.25 the following day.

The service will be operated using a B757-200 aircraft with 164 seats.

“Having seen steady growth of customers on our New York service over the past three years, we are confident that Boston will be another popular destination providing more choice to our customers in Scotland and the United States,” says Roberto Ioriatti, Delta’s Vice President Transatlantic.

“From our Boston hub, customers can connect on to 17 destinations with a short layover.”

Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity Michael Matheson says the new flights “highlight and strengthen the longstanding economic and cultural links between Scotland the United States”.
