Top tips for creating a business travel policy

Firstly, what is a business travel policy?

Essentially a business travel policy is a set of guidelines which ensures everyone is on the same page, whatever stage of the travel journey they’re part of. It helps keep travellers safe, helps you control travel spend and ensures all the finer details are taken care of. Keep it simple

The more complicated your policy, the more arduous it will seem to follow and therefore could result in low compliance. Keep guidelines easy to follow and with the end user in mind – explain how the process is beneficial for both them and the business as a whole.

What makes sense for your business?

Every business’ travel policy is different – if you only have one regular traveller, the CEO for example, your policy can probably be a little more open than if you have 400 travellers visiting different countries throughout the world regularly.

Your policy also needs to fit in with your company culture; consider what kind of independent choice and wellbeing support you want to weave in.
