Traveleads at the Annual Sport & Recreation Alliance Leadership Convention
by Traveleads | January 23, 2019 | CSR
Traveleads has just spent two days in the company of senior figures from across the UK’s sporting and recreational community – with organisations as diverse as the Football Association and Cerebral Palsy Sport being represented. Over 200 delegates gathered in Nottingham for the Sport & Recreation Alliance’s annual Leadership Convention to hear from an expert panel of speakers on a wide range of topics. Speakers included disability matters expert Dr Phil Friend, BBC Director of Sport – Barbara Slater, National Trust Director General – Dame Helen Ghosh, “Les Miserables” Director Chris Key, former Barnardo’s CEO Sir Martin Narey and inspirational polar expedition leader and founder of the Polar Explorer charity, Craig Matheson – who closed the convention with an enthralling insight into the charity’s work with young people.
The theme of “Building for the Future” was a highly topical one for many in the sector, as the UK looks to build on a purple patch of global attention via the London Olympics, Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Rugby World Cup, Tour de France – plus some spectacular sporting successes by British teams and individual athletes in recent years. Topics covered included organisational motivation, disability equality, mental health in work and sport, teamwork, equal rights and diversity, attainability of broadcast exposure and the importance of having long-term goals for improvement.
Traveleads co-sponsored the event along with their co-S&RA partners – accountants Hays Macintyre and insurance experts Perkins Slade.
The Sport & Recreation Alliance deserves congratulations for putting together a packed, insightful and relevant programme of speakers and workshops – crammed into only 24 hours, including some great networking opportunities for delegates to exchange ideas and best practice, and the feeling from the participants was that this was a highly rewarding event to attend. Traveleads would like to say “well done” to all of the staff of S&RA who worked hard to put the convention together and run it so smoothly!
