Tried & Tested: The New Bath Hotel (Matlock)

by Traveleads | November 26, 2018 | Latest News On The Ground

Over the years Matlock has attracted esteemed visitors from far and wide.
Located in the beautiful Peak District, the town is easily accessible thanks to the A6 which provides access to the M1 motorway, making Matlock geographically ideal if you are meeting up with friends or colleagues from across the country.

In 1698 warm springs were discovered in the area and a new spa town was born.
In February 1816 the future Emperor of Russia paid a visit to the region, but it was a visit in 1832 by Princess (Later Queen) Victoria and her mother, the Duchess of Kent, that firmly established Matlock as the high-society destination of the day.
Queen Marie Amelie of France and Princess Mary (who later became Queen Mary, wife of the future King George) also chose to spend time here – so when you visit the area that Lord Byron referred to as Little Switzerland, you can rest assured you are adding your name to an already very distinguished list.

Just as the guests of yesteryear came in search of stunning scenery and the finest lodgings, so todays visitors can enjoy the grandeur and charm of a bygone era.

Thanks to a four million pound investment and a complete overhaul of The New Bath Hotel – which despite the name actually dates back to the 1700’s – the property has been given a new lease of life and an updated, chic, contemporary twist. Its grade-II listed status ensured all of the wonderful period features remained, now sitting proudly alongside lots of new luxurious additions.

A brand new full service ESPA spa has been added and includes an outdoor hot tub with waters supplied from the geothermal warm springs that naturally occur in the area. There’s an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool, relaxation rooms, a sauna, a steam room and other recreational facilities on offer.

The appropriately named ‘Sourced’ restaurant uses local products and ingredients wherever possible, to offer a menu that includes dishes to suit even the most discerning palate. A newly refurbished hotel bar and siting room make for the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of meetings or conferencing.

The New Bath Hotel offers a choice of 3 function rooms. Choose from one of the smaller more intimate rooms, or go all out and hold your next event in the main ballroom. With its own private bar and kitchen, and direct access to the landscaped grounds and carpark, the Ballroom is perfect if you require an exclusive space away from other hotel guests.

So you’ve successfully taken care of business, enjoyed a little ‘me time’ in the spa, wined and dined your guests, taken a nightcap in the bar, it must be almost time for bed.

Choose from one of the beautifully appointed superior or deluxe rooms, complete with brand new luxury bathrooms. Today’s guests can enjoy a level of comfort that far surpasses anything the royal visitors experienced when they came to Matlock.

The New Bath Hotel is open for business, taking corporate and leisure bookings now. Please note the spa and leisure facilities are undergoing the final stages of renovation – not all amenities may be available. (Please contact the hotel or speak to your Traveleads consultant for more details)
