Stockholm airport will participate in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Preclearance program for screening travellers overseas from as early as 2019.
The following airports have also begun negotiations to join the program; Bogota, Colombia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Edinburgh, Scotland; Kansai, Japan; Milan, Italy; Reykjavik, Iceland; Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo, Brazil; and Saint Martin in the Caribbean.

Finnair have announced they will increase capacity from the UK and Ireland to Helsinki for summer 2017 due to high demand on the route.
Edinburgh will be served by up to five weekly flights operated by a 138-seat Airbus A319 with Business and Economy Class, following the successful launch of the route in April 2016.
Capacity from Dublin will also increase to nine weekly flights from March 2017 operated by a mix of Airbus A319 and Embraer E190 aircraft with a schedule convenient for onward connections.

As part of Virgin Trains East Coast programme a £140 million investment has facillitated a new timetable with 42 additional trains connecting London and Edinburgh every week.
The new services will increase capacity by nearly a third contributing an additional 22,000 seats weekly and provide a near-half-hourly service between the capitals.
Virgin said it has already seen bookings for journeys across the border increase by 15% compared with the same period last year after announcing the increased services.

Air France-KLM Group low-cost carrier Transavia has begun flying new routes from Edinburgh and Luton to Paris Orly. The Luton service is running twice a day on weekdays with daily flights on Saturdays and Sundays, and four flights a week are operating from Edinburgh. The new flights from the UK using 189-seat Boeing 737-800s come a year after the carrier began flying between Dublin and Paris.
