Emirates has unveiled plans to boost capacity to London with the addition of a tenth daily flight to the British capital starting 1st October 2016. The new service, Emirates fourth daily flight to London Gatwick, will complement its six daily services to Heathrow and take the airline's total weekly services to the city to 70.

The UK government has decided to defer a decision on expansion plans at Heathrow airport until the new Conservative Party leader has been elected.
The promise to make a decision this year as to whether Heathrow will get a third runway, now seems much less likely.
On Thursday, a Heathrow spokesman said expansion "must be a key building block in the government's Brexit plan" if the UK wants to be confident. It will allow British exporters to trade with all the growing markets of the world, strengthening Britain's position as one of the great trading nations,"

Norwegian Air is expanding it's UK services for summer 2016 on brand new Boeing 737-800 aircraft offering passengers free Wi-Fi.
From the 30th April, two weekly flights will depart from Manchester to Barcelona offering nearly 20,000 seats for the summer season. From the 2nd June, four weekly flights will depart Manchester to Malaga and two weekly flights to Alicante will begin from the 3rd June.
New flights from Edinburgh to Barcelona take off from the 15th June with 15,000 seats available this summer.

Monarch, the leading UK independent airline group, announced it will extend its new summer route to Lisbon to its winter schedule. Flights to the Portuguese city will operate from Birmingham, London Gatwick and Manchester.
A new summer route between Birmingham and Madrid has also been announced following the news that Monarch plan to base an additional Airbus A320 aircraft at the UK airport bringing the total number of aircraft flying for Monarch to 35, with nine based at Birmingham.

New Spanish routes from Manchester
Low-cost airline Norwegian is launching flights from Manchester to three popular Spanish destinations this summer. From 30th April, two weekly flights will take off from Manchester to Barcelona. From 2nd June, four weekly flights will depart Manchester to Malaga. Plus two weekly flights to Alicante will start from 3rd June. Flights are now on sale. Norwegian now operates six routes from Manchester.

Train links to both Heathrow and Gatwick Airport will be disrupted over the festive break.
The Gatwick Express is due to stop running at 21.15 on the 24th December Eve before restarting on the 4th January, plus the main line to the airport will be blocked at Purley for 10 days. The rail link will be subject to route changes throughout Christmas and in some cases replaced by bus services, some of which are not recommended for passengers who require assistance or have heavy luggage. The closure is due to essential plans to double rail capacity at Gatwick by 2020.

Cathay Pacific will launch a new four-times-weekly service from London’s Gatwick Airport on the 2nd September 2016.
The new service will complement the airline’s current five-times-daily service to Heathrow Airport and create a total of 39 non-stop flights a week between Hong Kong and London, more than any other carrier.
The service from Gatwick’s South Terminal will be operated by a new state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 in a four class configuration, to help meet growing demand from both business and leisure travellers between the UK and Asia Pacific region.
