From the 28th March 2017 British Airways will fly to Oakland, California. The city across the bay from San Francisco will be served year round by a 3-cabin B777 from London Gatwick. There will be four flights per week throughout the summer reducing to three for the winter.
From the 6th July 2017 British Airways begins its third year round service from London Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Flying four times a week in the peak summer season and three times a week for the rest of the year, the route will also be served by a 3-cabin B777.

From 11th January British Airways will be upgrading their food offering on all short haul flights to and from London Heathrow and London Gatwick by partnering with Marks & Spencer, another great British brand.
Passengers will be able to purchase food from the delicious and seasonally inspired menu, ‘M&S on board’, along with a choice of branded wines, spirits and soft drinks available to purchase from an extensive bar menu.

As part of its winter timetable TAP Air Portugal will increase the number of weekly flights from London Gatwick to Lisbon and Porto from the 30th October 2016.
Two additional flights to Porto will provide a total of 14 weekly flights and five additional flights to Lisbon will provide a total of 12 weekly flights.
The increases bring TAP’s winter schedule to a total of 71 direct weekly flights to Portugal from London Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester.

Tianjin Airlines, the fast-growing Chinese airline, is set to launch its first flights to the UK later this year, with a twice-weekly A330 service. The airline will begin flying from London Gatwick to Chongqing and Tianjin on the 25th June 2016. Chongqing is a major city in Southwest China and Tianjin a major port city on the northern coast. The new twice-weekly Gatwick service will operate every Wednesday and Saturday and offer 18 business class and 242 economy class seats.

Monarch Airlines, the British low-cost airline, has added four new ski routes to its winter schedules. For winter 2016/17 Monarch will operate routes from Birmingham to Salzburg and Turin plus from London Gatwick to Lyon and Friedrichshafen. The airline has also increased flights on other routes; Birmingham to Grenoble, London Gatwick to Grenoble, Geneva and Innsbruck, and Manchester to Grenoble. Further winter routes and flights will be announced in the coming weeks.

British Airways now fly from London Gatwick to the Peruvian capital, Lima. The service which began on the 4th May 2016 operates three times weekly in the summer, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and, will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays in the winter. The new route will be the only direct service between London and Peru and will be operated by a three-class Boeing 777 plane.
