A day in the life… Group Sales Director, Sally Cassidy

5.53am: Early Start!
Very early start, as I head off on the first train to Aberdeen from Glasgow. Coffee at the ready as I take in the rising sun and the beautiful views across Scotland.
This is when I tend to get a head start on the day inbox with some email catch-up but then I realise it’s only 7am so I catch up on an episode of Ray Donovan!
Does anyone else have this guilty pleasure?!
7.35am: Warm welcome!
Arrived at one of my favourite hotels… Sandman’s Signature Aberdeen.
Lovely warm welcome as always on a freezing day in the Granite City! I do love this hotel ❤
Leo and the team always make me feel so at home here and Martin was at the ready in
the restaurant with a table reserved for my first breakfast meeting.
8.00am: Breakfast meet-ups!
Early breakfast meeting with Cerri McDonald from Prospect 13, finalising our 2020
marketing strategy for Aberdeen.
It’s hard not to tuck into a full cooked Scottish breakfast (haggis and all!) from the buffet
but we resisted temptation and stuck to coffee and toast!
9.30am: The Traveleads sales team arrive at the hotel for our final away-day in 2019.
Last polish on next year’s group sales strategy… #hello2020
We kicked off with introductions to the three newest members of the sales team - Paul
in Leeds, Dave in Wales and Lindsey in Southampton.
This gang is growing and we’re STILL looking for new talent in London.
2.45pm: Down to business!
After a quick spot of lunch, we were flagging a little. I think they were sick of listening to
me by then… sales process, pipeline management, improvements to on-boarding,
mind-set, skills development.
But when you’re winning new business at a rate of £5 million a quarter, there’s ALWAYS
so much to talk about. By the end of the afternoon, we had a solid plan!
5.30pm: Team building time!
I’m a true believer in mixing business with pleasure, and this was the ideal time to let
the team see the Aberdeen office and pop the corks on the left-over Champagne from
our office opening in August.
Great banter, some questionable dance moves and with a Welsh Man in the team,
there was also singing!
7.30pm: Team dinner!
At our favourite Aberdeen restaurant – Shahbaaz Tandoori for some delicious, authentic
Indian food.
Abie and his team took excellent care of us as always. My favourite thing to order here is‘A Surprise’.
I trust them to cook me something tasty and I’ve never been let down yet!
10.30pm: Gin o’clock!
Grape & Grain is not only one of my favourite bars but being right around the corner from
the office, it’s also our local!
A great team deserves to be spoilt and that is exactly how this place makes you feel.
Superb Gin but my favourite is the exceptional Primitivo. A classic red from South of
Italy, served by Andy – THE best bar manager.
12.04am: Time for bed!
After a long but exciting day of breakfasts, meetings, team building and celebrating what
we’ve achieved so far this year, it’s time for bed.
The mattresses here are wonderful and I always have an AMAZING sleep. I should really
go straight to sleep as I’ve an 8am train to catch tomorrow, but the Traveleads monthly
newsletter has landed so I have a quick read and then count my blessings before it all
starts again tomorrow.
