London to Shanghai routes enhanced

This February British Airways are increasing services between London and Shanghai by three per week, making it even easier for customers to find flights to perfectly suit their schedules. Plus from summer 2016 the route will be operated on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The technologically advanced aircraft features state-of-the-art facilities, contemporary interiors and the luxurious new First Class cabin.

Scan and go

New hand-held barcode scanners have started to replace desktop scanners across London Heathrow Terminal 5. The scanners make it easier for customers' to use the boarding passes on their mobile devices or Apple watches at check-in without them having to hand them to a British Airways team member. The scanners coincide with a number of enhancements to the British Airways mobile app.

New BA City Flyer leisure routes

BA subsidiary BA City Flyer will operate four new routes to Faro, Malaga, Palma and Ibiza from the 28th May 2016. All four new routes will feature 98-seat Embraer 190 jets offering a choice of two cabins, Club Europe and Euro Traveller. The expansion to the London network will give customers even more choice of where to fly from this summer, to some of the most popular European holiday destinations.

Pre-order meals on mid-haul flights

Customers flying mid-haul in the premium cabins now have the option to pre-order their main in-flight meal up to 24 hours before they fly from London Heathrow. The new service, already enjoyed by those travelling long haul, allows customers to select their main meal within 30 days of their flight’s departure, with starters and dessert choices continuing to be taken on board.
