Air traffic controllers across France are threatening to hold industrial action on Thursday 28th April 2016. A walkout is planned for at least 35 hours from this evening (Wednesday) resulting in a warning of hundreds of flights being cancelled and extensive delays across Europe. Flights to and from Germany’s six main airports face extensive cancellations, disruptions and delays on Wednesday 27th April due to strike action by ground staff.
The industrial action threatens to affect ground handling, passenger checks and airport fire services at Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Dortmund and Hanover airports.
All long haul services from Munich have been grounded, while only a small number of domestic and European services are expected to run.

Disruption to flights will be likely due to planned industrial action by Italian Air Traffic Controllers on Saturday 9th April. The hours of the industrial action are 0800GMT (10:00 Italian time) – 1600GMT (18:00 Italian time). It may be necessary for airlines to make adjustments to flight programmes for those flights that are scheduled to operate to and from Italy during the strike hours. Virgin Trains are running a limited train service between Carlisle and Glasgow via a diversionary route which will add an additional 90 minutes journey time.
Customers travelling on trains to and from Scotland are urged to check before they travel after it was confirmed that Lamington Viaduct, just outside Lockerbie, on the West Coast Mainline is to remain closed throughout January while engineers carry out repairs to the damage caused by Storm Frank.
It is anticipated that services will be disrupted until 01st February 2016.

The survey aims to identify the real issues and problems that frustrate passengers when they travel, and hopes to improve our future travel experiences.

All airlines are waiting for the British Government to announce when it will be safe for flights to Sharm el-Sheikh to operate. Regular passenger services from the UK have been suspended since the 5th November when it was discovered terrorists had smuggled a bomb onto a Russian holiday flight from the resort, causing it to crash.
EasyJet and Monarch have suspended flights until the 6th January in the expectation the Government will give them the go ahead to relaunch services shortly.
