The North South Divide is Shrinking!

We reported back in April last year that the go ahead had been given on the new high speed Azuma train. With trains now fresh out of production trials have begun between London and Edinburgh, and already journey times have begun to shrink. Last week The new Azuma train shaved 22 minutes off the current journey time. The trial was carried out by train manufacturer Hitachi as part of its testing phase between now and 2018 - which is when they plan to roll out the new 65-strong fleet.

Qatar waives entry visa requirements

Qatar will allow visa-free entry for citizens of 80 countries, effective immediately. Citizens of those countries, including the UK, wishing to visit Qatar will no longer need to apply or pay for a visa.

A multi-entry waiver will be issued free-of-charge at the port of entry upon presentation of a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and a confirmed onward or return ticket.

SAS New Experience

SAS Scandinavian Airlines are upgrading their fleet with 30 new A320neo aircraft, the most efficient and environmentally-friendly aircraft for mid-range travel. The A320neo burns 15-20% less fuel per flight compared to the aircraft used today, and will therefore help SAS achieve its sustainability goals.

In addition to 30 brand new aircraft, the remaining 70 planes will be refitted with the new cabin between 2017 and 2019. To make the journey even more comfortable, the seats in the new cabin will be equipped with comfort cushions, a further recline and a new 30" seat width.

Clayton Hotel rebrand La Tour Birmingham Hotel

The Dublin-based Dalata Hotel Group's newly accquired property the Hotel La Tour in Birmingham will be re-branded as a Clayton hotel by the end of 2017. The hotel features 174 guestrooms, a gym, extensive conference and event space and facillities, plus Mr. White's English Chophouse operated legendary chef Marco Pierre White.
