Wightlink Portsmouth ferry temporary closure: 1st, 2nd and 3rd November 2016

Due to Wightlink’s £45million Investing for the Future project the Portsmouth Car Ferry Terminal will be closed for installations of double deck boarding ramps on 1st, 2nd and 3rd November 2016.

The Investing for the Future project will provide a new ship on the Portsmouth to Fishbourne route and updates to port facilities at Portsmouth and Fishbourne car ferry terminals underway.

The easy-to-use double deck boarding ramps are currently being installed at both terminals increasing vehicle capacity, and improving reliability and punctuality especially at peak travel times.

Passenger demand fuels Flybe expansion

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, have responded to the demands of the Welsh market by adding additional capacity and another new route to its network this winter. Flybe will begin operating a twice a week Cardiff to Berlin route on a Wednesday and Saturday from 2nd November 2016. Flybe’s Glasgow route will increase to 11 flights per week, meaning Welsh business passengers have even more day return options from Cardiff.

Airlines implement safety measures over Samsung Galaxy Note 7 concerns

A growing list of airlines are refusing to carry the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and passengers are being advised not to use the device during flights. The US Federal Aviation Administration announced the safety measures recently following Samsung Electronics global recall of all handsets after reports some devices exploded whilst charging.

The US Department for Transportation measures are in place for all flights to and from the United States.
