Norwegian boosts Gatwick to Puerto Rico service for winter 2016

The UK’s only direct flights to Puerto Rico will return in November with more capacity following a successful first winter season. The low-cost carrier will resume the service to the island’s capital San Juan with twice weekly flights from 2nd November to 22nd March 2017 using a larger Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, the new aircraft offer 18% more seats per flight in two classes.

Looking to the future

Low-cost carrier Norwegian claims it would base at least 50 Dreamliners and 100 short-haul jets at Gatwick if it wins approval for a second runway. Norwegian already operates flights from Gatwick to New York, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. And an additional runway at Gatwick would allow the carrier to be 'even more ambitious' in its plans for long-haul growth in the UK.
