In 1791 Birmingham was hailed as the first manufacturing town in the world - back then thousands of small workshops practiced a variety of highly skilled trades. This encouraged exceptional levels of creativity and innovation in the region that lasted into the final quarter of the 20th century. Did you know that the steam engine, possibly the most important invention in British history (kick starting the industrial revolution) was invented in Birmingham?
Today the city is an international commercial centre, the largest and most populous British city outside of London.
Easy to reach - smack bang in the middle of England - with an extensive list of venues catering to the MICE market, it’s hardly surprising to discover that Birmingham is fast becoming the number one choice for many companies when it comes to meetings, conferences and events.

Town Hall Birmingham is not a town hall in the traditional sense of the word. Unlike other town halls that serve as local council offices and government buildings the Town Hall Birmingham is a beautiful reproduction of an ancient Roman temple in the centre of the city. Not quite as old as the temple of Castor and Pollux in the roman forum that formed the blueprint for its design, the Grade 1 listed concert hall dates back to the 1830’s and has a history and legacy all of its own.
Charles Dickens gave public readings here, Mendelssohn's Elijah and Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius both received their premieres here and in more recent times Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones & Bob Dylan have all appeared here.
Following its £35million refurbishment in the 1990’s the interior has been restored to its original resplendent glory. The breathtaking main hall can provide a captivating back-drop for your next event.
Thanks to state of the art lighting and acoustics, it sounds as wonderful as it looks. Foyers and bar areas can be used for delegate registration, breakout spaces, networking and for buffet services.
