Iberia has become the first airline to offer a Premium Economy seating class between Business and Economy on direct flights between Spain and Latin American destinations. Premium Economy will be rolled out across all 37 long-haul aircraft for completion in early 2018. Eight Airbus A330-300s will have 21 Premium Economy seats, and 13 Airbus A340-600s will have 23. The new Premium Economy seats are available for flights in May to and from Chicago and New York, in August to Miami and in September to Boston. In October it will be available on flights to Bogota and in November on flights to Mexico City, and many other long-haul routes in early 2018.
Features of the new Premium Economy class include the following:
- Seats that recline 40% more (from 5” to 7”)
- More separation between rows: 37” (20% more than in Economy)
- Wider seats: 19” (11.6% more than in Economy)
- More comfort: more reclinable seats with fully adjustable headrests and footrests
- Bigger video and better audio: full 12” HD screens (vs. 9” in Economy), noise-cancelling earphones and connecting ports for personal electronic devices
- Exclusive in-flight service: a complimentary drink, an upgraded meal service, special linen and personalised toiletry kit
- More luggage: an extra suitcase, priority boarding and disembarking, and dedicated check-in counters in the Madrid airport
